John Bercow MP invited Buckingham constituency Lib Dems chairman Julian Newman, together with other local political figures to the State Opening of Parliament on 9th May, followed by a reception in Speaker's House. I understand that you are the Chairman of the Buckingham Liberal Democrats.
The 2013 Review of Parliamentary constituency boundaries will introduce substantial changes. It will reduce the number of constituencies in England from 533 to 502 and make sure that each constituency has a similar number of registered electors.
Lib Dem Euro MP Catherine Bearder met celebrity fishing campaigner Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall to discuss the future of fishing. On a visit to the European Parliament to launch the European Fish Fight Campaign, Fearnley Whittingstall praised the efforts by MEPs to put the issue of fishing reforms high up on the European agenda.
Buckingham Constituency really bucked the national trend in last week's elections to Aylesbury Vale District Council. Not only did we retain our two sitting candidates - Cory Cashman and Avril Davies - but we also returned two new councillors - Llew Monger for Winslow and David Vick for Waddesdon. Unfortunately because we were unable to find a candidate for the Wycombe district wards we let the independents and conservative have a free reign. We will be working hard to resolve this issue in time for the county elections in 2013.
