Buckingham constituency Lib Dems double their numbers in AVDC elections
We managed to double our number of district council seats in Buckingham constituency, from two to four.
Our two existing councillors, Avril Davies (Pitstone) and Corry Cashman (Cheddington) were reelected. And David Vick (Waddesdon ward) and Llew Monger (Winslow) won seats previously held by the Conservatives.
This is a remarkable success, achieved while the Lib Dems were suffering big losses elsewhere in the country. And the seats were won from the Conservatives, who are traditionally very strong in rural Bucks, and who were not suffering a backlash in the local elections, unlike the Lib Dems.
In Winslow Llew Monger topped the poll in the two member ward, ahead of six other candidates.
David and Llew were two top-class candidates who put in two years of very hard work, and then managed to step up their efforts in the campaign.
Avril and Corry were two well established figures who stood on solid records of action.
"This proves that voters will continue to support Lib Dem candidates when they see them working hard for local people," said consiituency vice-chairman Gareth Davies. "Where we work, we win."
