Ian Churchill - Liberal Democrat Candidate for Princes Risborough

Ian Churchill

Ian is a committed local campaigner who has lived in Monks Risborough for the past fifteen years. With a background in law enforcement and senior roles in government, Ian has spent most of his career serving the public and working on things that make a real difference to peoples' lives. Ian has also spent time in the corporate sector, as well as setting up several small companies, so he understands the challenges local businesses are facing and the importance of a thriving economy.

As a former town councillor and chair of the Risborough Area Residents Association (RARA), Ian has spent many years fighting to balance growth with environmental responsibility - always working to ensure that local voices are heard. He has recently been appointed as a trustee for a major Chilterns-based conservation charity, and has also served as a community governor at Princes Risborough Primary School, working to improve education and support for families. Now campaigning with the Liberal Democrats, Ian is dedicated to pushing for transparency, accountability, and a fairer deal for local residents.

Our Priorities for the Princes Risborough Ward

These elections present a clear choice: a fresh, community-focused approach with the Liberal Democrats or more of the same from the Conservatives.

  • A close eye on planning. Ian and Audoen, will continue to fight for a community-led local plan that prevents speculative over-development, protects our Green Belt, and does not cause further flooding problems. They are committed to ensuring new housing is properly planned, includes decent and genuinely affordable homes for local people, and is supported by essential infrastructure such as schools and healthcare services.

  • Protecting our environment. The Conservatives have shown again and again that they don't really care about our environment. Ian and Audoen will campaign tirelessly to protect, restore and enhance our beautiful green spaces, unique heritage, and nationally recognised landscapes.

  • Buckinghamshire's SEND services have been in crisis for too long and our children are being failed. It is something Ian and Audoen both care about deeply and it just can't go on. A Liberal Democrat-led council would make addressing the shortfall in local provision an absolute priority.

  • Better roads. Roads and footpaths are a major concern for residents. After years of under-investment we will campaign for new technologies and better planning, to ensure more can be done to prevent the vicious cycle of repair and fail.

  • Improved local engagement. We will work closely with local residents and parish councils to better understand priorities. You will see us all year round at regular surgeries. Not just at election time!

The newly named Princes Risborough ward (formerly The Risboroughs) covers the market town of Princes Risborough, the villages of Monks Risborough and Longwick-cum-Ilmer, as well as several smaller hamlets and surrounding rural areas. It is part of Buckinghamshire Council, a unitary authority established in April 2020 through the merger of the former county and district councils.

For the local elections on Thursday 1st May 2025, residents will be able to vote for two candidates to represent them on Buckinghamshire Council.
