Sarah Jeffreys
I live in Steeple Claydon, where I brought up my family, so I have over 20 years' experience of living locally and being involved in the community. I have taught in several Buckinghamshire schools throughout this time, currently in Aylesbury.
I love the distinct characters of our villages - the sense that we are nestled right in the rural beating heart of our country - but I also feel the frustrations this can bring as we try to stay connected by road, rail and digitally to wider social and economic networks.
I have a strong sense of social responsibility and look forward to playing a more significant role by speaking up for what matters to us.

Ivo Haest
I have been living with my family in Steeple Claydon for almost 20 years. I am involved with many local voluntary agencies, charities and groups. I am a Parish councillor in Steeple Claydon where I lead several working groups like the Road Safety and Neighbourhood Plan groups. I have secured funding for projects from HS2 Road Safety Mitigation funds. Yet, I have been a prominent protester against HS2 and try to make them accountable for the continued havoc they create for many of us.
I am a retired doctor, specialising in public health medicine and nutrition. For half of my professional life, I worked overseas for governmental health and development programmes and Save The Children Fund (UK). For the other half I worked in the NHS and local government in Nottingham and Milton Keynes. If I am elected, I will use my extensive experience to improve our local health and social care services; I want to build healthy communities and not just more houses.
Our Priorities for Grendon Underwood and The Claydons
These elections present a clear choice: moving forwards with the Liberal Democrats or 4 more years of failure from the Conservatives.
- The provision of SEND education services in Buckinghamshire is in crisis. It is something we care about deeply and it just can't go on. A Liberal Democrat council would make addressing the shortfall in local provision an absolute priority
- If elected, we will work constructively with all parties, as we have done previously in our roles on other local councils.
- We urgently need 20 mph limits through many of our local villages to:
- Improve safety for our residents and protect children
- To help protect our road surfaces
- To discourage drivers from rat-running through our villages and encourage more use of the main A roads.
- If elected, we will campaign for Buckinghamshire Council to implement 20 mph limits where Parish Councils identify a need, consult with residents and hold local Referendums of residents to see if they are in favour.
- Lib Dems campaign to maintain the identity of our rural villages
- New housing applications must be in line with local Neighbourhood Plans
- The rural environment needs to be maintained by prioritising Nature Recovery and tackle the scourge of fly-tipping
- Any development must go hand in hand with the provision of services such as schools, GP surgeries and green spaces
